On October 7, 2020, IBIRC director Dr. Yuri Adrian Tijerino and IBIRC staff member Yasushi Miyazaki visited Hyogo Prefectural Emergency Management and Training Center in Miki City near Kobe in Hyogo Prefecture, Japan. This institution is developed to make a back-up system for disaster response with respect to lessons learned from The Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake in 1995. This center is surrounded by sports facilities which will be used as the Prefecture-wide logistic hub in disaster situations.

IBIRC is planning a pilot in the year 2021 at this institution. In this visit, we have discussed a lot of critical and practical issues regarding the pilot. We have gained a clearer picture of the pilot through this visit. We thank the staff members at the Hyogo Prefectural Emergency Management and Training Center for their kind hosting.
